Licensed Psychotherapist/Art Therapist

As a Licensed Psychotherapist with a

specialty in Art Therapy, I receive great satisfaction helping children,

adolescents, and adults improve mood and relationships so that they can experience more joy  in their lives. I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Mindfulness, Art Therapy, Play Therapy, and other evidence based treatment to address issues including depression, anxiety, Trauma, adjustment to life stressors (divorce, medical, school), ADHD, behavioral and relational problems.  With adults, I mostly use talk therapy alone whereas with children and adolescents, I frequently incorporate art making as it actively engages them and provides a visual form of communicating what they may be reluctant or unable to verbalize. Research shows that children who make art talk twice as much as children who only talk in session. Art-making can be soothing and revealing, providing a platform for discussion and a means of managing emotions.

I am a Nationally Board Certified (BC), Registered Art Therapist (ATR) and New York State Licensed Art Therapist (LCAT) with extensive experience supervising graduate level interns and mental health practitioners as well as providing verbal psychotherapy and art therapy treatment in inpatient psychiatric and outpatient settings to adults, adolescents, and children in private and public schools. I publish, offer workshops, am engaged in research, and present regularly. I graduated from my Masters Program in 2011 with a 4.0 GPA and participate in the world of academia and clinical work through trainings, workshops, and lectures around increasing resiliency, and improving mood, and parent-child relationships.  My experience includes research at The Depression Evaluation Services, NY Presbyterian Hospital (named New York’s #1 Hospital in U.S. News & World Report’s ‘Best Hospitals’ for the 17th Year in a Row), and clinical treatment at Montefiore Medical Center (a teaching hospital of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine), and a range of mental health outpatient facilities.

I have experience working with children in private schools (Buckley, Calhoun, Nightingale...etc) and public schools (P.S. 6...etc).

Therapy can provide a safe, supportive space where we can collaborate to resolve problems, heal the pain, and close the gap between where you or your child are right now and where you would like to be. Please feel free to call the number below for a free 5-10 minute phone consultation.
